A dedicated midwife throughout your pregnancy and birth provides the expectant mother with continued support and one to one care. Private midwifes generally offer different types of care packages at different costs. The private midwife provides antenatal appointments at home; blood pressure checks, urine tests, listen to baby’s heartbeat and assess its position & size, as well as discussing other concerns you may have. You will be able to discuss your birth options and preferences and plan these with your personal midwife in attendance, either for a home or hospital birth. If a hospital delivery is required, your highly trained midwife will be in attendance throughout labour and the delivery itself. She will provide postnatal care during daily visits (usually for the first 5 days), which also include personal breastfeeding support. Further visits and continuing support can also be arranged.
