Hospitals and clinics providing Unblocking of blood vessels in the heart

Blood vessels in the heart can be unblocked by a procedure known as an atherectomy. An atherectomy is usually performed by using a catheter. It is performed by inserting a cather with a small, sharp blade at the end through a small cut in the patient's artery, usually the groin. A thin wire with the attached catheter is then passed along the artery until it reaches the site of obstruction (plaque) and removes it. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia.
