Paragonimiasis is a foodborne infection that affects the tissues of the lungs. This is caused by trematodes from the Paragonimus genus with the most common oriental lung fluke. Humans are infected as they consume raw and infected crustaceans like crabs and crayfish. This could also happen after ingesting infested pork. Symptoms of paragonimiasis may vary according to the stage of the infection. There could be abdominal pain, diarrhoea, urticaria, cough, dyspnea, body malaise and chest pain.
