Hypertension is a condition wherein there is an increase in blood pressure readings. It is estimated that there are about 30% of people in the UK that have hypertension. It hypertension is left untreated it could increase a person’s risk of developing cardiac problems, stroke and obesity. Some people are more at risk of developing hypertension than others; being obese, being of African or Caribbean descent, having more salt in the diet. Inactivity, alcoholism, smoking and old age increases the risk.
