Gynaecology or gynecology is the medical speciality dealing with the health of the female reproductive system (vagina, uterus and ovaries) and the breasts. Literally, outside medicine, it means "the science of women". Almost all modern gynaecologists are also obstetricians. In many health authorities, the specialties of gynaecology and obstetrics overlap. Gynaecology also includes paediatric gynaecology, acute pain, pre-menstrual problems, fertility, bladder dysfunction, colposcopy, menopause and oncology.
