Arthritis means inflammation (pain, redness, warmth, and swelling) of the joint(s). Osteoarthritis (OA) and Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are the two most common forms. While the former occurs mostly due to degenerative age-related changes, the latter is an autoimmune disease where the body's own immune system turns on itself. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is commonly seen in children often younger than 16 years old. Physiotherapy or orthopaedic surgery may be used to treat it depending on the severity.
