As well as treating all ear nose and throat problems, Mr Salama has a long-standing special interest in rhinology and sinus surgery. His practice involves using all the latest technology and relies on minimally invasive principles, including the use of balloon sinuplasty. Also he has an interest in snoring and associated sleep problems.


Mr Nabil Salama (FRCS) is a Consultant Otolaryngologist and Head & Neck Surgeon at University Hospital, Lewisham, Honorary Senior Lecturer at United Medical and Dental School of Guys, Kings and St. Thomas'. He was appointed as a Consultant in 1983, based mainly at University Hospital, Lewisham.

    Clinical interests

    • Snoring and sleep disorders – investigations and solutions, both surgical and non-surgical for severe snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea
    • Sleep studies – diagnostic sleep study equipment for home use
    • Coblation – advanced technology that shrinks bulky tissue of the soft palate and tongue base, resulting in snoring improvement
    • Implantable hearing aids – suitable for some types of hearing loss, maintenance free and has the advantage of sound clarity and the ability to carry out normal activity without removal
    • Facial plastic surgery – non-surgical (Botox, facial fillers, laser etc) and surgical (rhinoplasty, facelift, pinnaplasty etc) procedures

    Research interests

  • Mr. Salama has an interest in endoscopic sinus surgery and has attended various courses and conferences in the UK and abroad. He has also set up his own endoscopic sinus surgery course at University Hospital, Lewisham. He is a member of the British Association of Otorhinolaryngologists and Head & Neck Surgeons and the European Rhinological Society.
