Mr Simo’s areas of expertise lie in head and neck oncological surgery, thyroid, parathyroid and salivary gland surgery. He has a special interest in complex and revision head and neck surgery. His practice also encompasses all general ENT disorders in adults and children.

 

Mr Simo is a Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist, Head and Neck Surgeon working in the NHS at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital NHS Trust.

Mr Simo graduated from the University of Barcelona in 1988, trained in Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery in Shrewsbury, Nottingham and Manchester. He was awarded a travelling fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow to undertake further training in head and neck oncology and thyroid surgery in Philadelphia in the USA.

 

Mr Simo has published over 50 original articles in peer reviewed medical journals and has authored 5 chapters in national and international head and neck surgery textbooks. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer and Clinical Advisor at Guy’s, Kings and St Thomas’ Medical School. He is actively involved in training and teaching undergraduate students and postgraduate doctors, GPs and is a faculty member of several national and international head and neck courses.

  

Mr Simo's private practice with the London ENT Surgeons 

Mr Simo works privately as part of a group of six ENT surgeons, drawing from 80 plus years of combined NHS experience, providing expertise in all areas of Ear, Nose and Throat disorders.

 

Together the London ENT Surgeons have admitting privileges at over eight premier private hospitals, spread across London and the south, including Harley Street, allowing them to provide care for their patients as close to home as possible.

    • Balance testing – where appropriate, balance rehabilitation
    • Tinnitus therapy – personalised therapy for those with intrusive tinnitus
    • Allergy testing – skin testing to help diagnose and manage symptoms
    • Videolaryngostroboscopy (VLS) – investigation essential for accurate diagnosis of voice disorders

    Research interests

    • Snoring and sleep disorders – investigations and solutions, both surgical and non-surgical for severe snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea
    • Sleep studies – diagnostic sleep study equipment for home use
    • Coblation – advanced technology that shrinks bulky tissue of the soft palate and tongue base, resulting in snoring improvement
    • Implantable hearing aids – suitable for some types of hearing loss, maintenance free and has the advantage of sound clarity and the ability to carry out normal activity without removal
    • Facial plastic surgery – non-surgical (Botox, facial fillers, laser etc) and surgical (rhinoplasty, facelift, pinnaplasty etc) procedures
