Consultant Gastroenterologist

Dr Rehan Haidry is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist at University College Hospital. He undertook his medical training at St Mary's Hospital in London followed by Gastroenterology training in North East London. He went on to do a two-year research fellowship at UCLH in novel diagnostic and therapeutic modalities in the upper gastrointestinal tract including endoscopic treatment of Barrett’s Oesophagus and early cancers.  Dr Haidryis also an expert in managing and treating patients with acid reflux symptoms.

In addition Dr Haidry has experience with conditions including diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain and bloating. He regularly treats patients with gastro-oesophageal reflux, Barrett’s oesophagus, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and food intolerances.

He is actively involved in teaching and coordinates several state of the art endoscopy training courses at UCLH.

  • Dr Haidry has experience with a range of conditions including diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain and bloating. He regularly treats patients with:

    • Gastro-oesophageal reflux
    • Barrett’s oesophagus
    • Irritable bowel syndrome,
    • Inflammatory bowel disease
    • Food intolerances

    Research interests

  • Dr Haidry is actively involved in various research projects at the renowned University College London where he is Honorary Senior Research Associate.  He is committed to providing high quality research to innovate new endoscopic technologies and provide state-of-the-art care to his patients

    His research interests include the development of new methods for detecting and treating dysplasia (early cancer) in Barrett's Oesophagus and other pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract. He currently leads various national and international clinical trials in these fields. 

    In addition to exploring new methods for the early detection of cancers, he is also researching new procedures such as cryoablation. This cutting edge procedure has shown promising results by freezing away early cancers of the oesophagus, He was one of the first to perform this procedure in the UK. Dr Haidry also has particular inertest in exploring new endoscopic approaches for the treatment of patients with Type 2 Diabetes

    Each year Dr Haidry hosts a number of endoscopy workshops each year at University College Hospital. These live workshop focus on new endoscopic procedures and techniques.  


    Dr Haidry has published various research papers in some of the most esteemed journals on a broad range of GI topics, in addition to also having presented at many national and international conferences.
